Jesus…said to her, “Woman, where are they? Is there no one to condemn you?
She said, “No one, sir.”
Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go…don’t sin anymore.”
(John 8:10–11, CEB)
Jesus mercifully saved this sinful woman by requiring the “righteous” men to condemn themselves, something they were unwilling to do. By doing this, Jesus reveals an uncommon counter-cultural love of humanity, all of whom stand equal before God.
Throughout Scripture, Jesus takes his followers on a journey of discovering that all people — regardless of gender, race, economic status, physical limitations, or spiritual condition— are on the same level, just as Paul later wrote, “There is no difference” (Rom 3:23; 10:12).
All have sinned.
All are loved.
To each Christ says, “I do not wish to condemn you, so go and sin no more.”
