Heading toward the Hood
We may not know exactly where the road is leading, but we know the One who is with us on the journey. [Photo by S.E.Fairbanks, July 2021]
Driving I-84 west from Boise comes with two pleasures — the opportunity to stop by Multnomah Falls and, when the sky is clear, the appearance of snow-capped Mount Hood. We never see snow on the tops of mountains in Southeast Asia (though snowflakes have been known to fall from time to time on the tops of the highest peaks, but never enough to cover the ground), so there is something exciting about seeing snow still on the mountains through the sprint and even into the summer.
In the midst of a year when the destination of our lives seemed very much like this road in this photo — unseen and curving away into the unknown — the unchanging presence of something, or Someone, provides some stabilization. We may not know exactly where the road is leading, but we know the One who is with us on the journey.
Where are you going? And who is going with you?
